Wilma Weinberg

 

 

Funeral services for Wilma Aileen Alter Weinberg, 91, 0f Lawrence, Kansas will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Ford Wulf Burns Chapel in Coffeyville, Kansas. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas. Wilma died Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Brandon Woods Retirement Center at Alvamar in Lawrence.

She was born October 7, 1918 in Kansas City, Missouri and was the daughter of Max and Ann (Cohen) Alter.
 
Wilma Weinberg worked in the family business at Weinberg’s Western Wear in Coffeyville Kansas as well as being a mother and homemaker. Wilma known by everyone as ‘Willie’ was beloved and respected by family community and friends and was well known as everyone’s choice for a bridge partner.  
 
She was married to Maurice Weinberg on February 11, 1940 in Coffeyville, Kansas.  He preceded her in death on January 1, 2005.

She is survived by three sons, Jeff Weinberg and wife Mary, of Lawrence, Kansas, Thomas Weinberg of Haiku, Hawaii, and Michael Weinberg of Grove, Oklahoma; and four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Weinberg) Gualtieri, of Portland, Oregon, Jennifer Weinberg, of Lawrence, Kansas, Sam Weinberg, of Independence, Kansas, Marsha Thomas, of Columbia, Missouri; and one great-granddaughter, Annabell Thomas of Columbia, Missouri.

The family asks that in lieu of sending flowers donations can be made to the Maurice Weinberg Memorial Scholarship fund at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Warren-McElwain will be handling Lawrence, Kansas arrangements.
