Wilbur A. Kramer

Mass of Christian Burial for Wilbur A. Kramer, 89, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. He died Monday, May 5, 2014 at his home.

Wilbur was born October 17, 1924 in Seneca, KS the son of Joseph and Frances (Holthaus) Kramer. He’s the last survivor of his family of nine.

He served his country in the U.S. Army/paratrooper. After returning from being drafted during WWII, Wilbur took over the family farm. Soon after that, he married Betty J. Henry on February 3, 1951 in Seneca, KS. He farmed until 1997 and then moved to Lawrence, KS.

He was a loving husband, devoted dad. He was fun-loving and kind.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; children, Mary Chris Kramer Schier (Jim), Brandenton, FL, Joe Kramer, Wichita, KS, Denise Kramer Heinen (Bill), Manhattan, KS, Mark Kramer (Elizabeth Marshall), Lawrence, Stan Kramer (Stephanie), Lawrence, Julie Vincent (Alec), Keller, TX and David Kramer (Christine), Topeka, KS; 20 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Seneca, KS, and a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence, KS.

The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 9th at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

The family suggests memorials in his name to the Early Childhood Autism Project, The Lawrence Salvation Army or Lawrence Goodwill and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
