Vivian Irene June

Funeral service for Vivian Irene (Rothrock) June, 92, Lawrence will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Pleasant Grove, KS. She died August 24, 2014 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on March 15, 1922 in Douglas County, KS the daughter of Harold and Edith (Hutchison) Rothrock.

Vivian married Raymond June on October 10, 1947 in Lawrence. Ray was the love of her life for 67 years and preceded her in death on March 14, 2014.

Vivian’s home was a haven for her family. After her daughters were raised, she was a bookkeeper for Tony’s Imports-Nissan and retired in March of 1984.

Vivian gave her life to Christ in her early twenties and was faithful throughout her life. She served in many ministries of the church. In later years, she continued her ministry to others, taking on the role of prayer warrior for her family and loved ones. Vivian was a member of Lawrence Free Methodist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Karron Schwarz, Lawrence, Sherrel Crenshaw and husband, Eldon, Ottawa, Kathleen Decker, Columbus, GA; 8 grandchildren, Colleen Walker, Ronald Ferguson, Bradley Crenshaw, Scott Crenshaw, Todd Crenshaw, Krista Skoog, Troy Decker, Matthew Decker, 17 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her great grandson, Ryan Walker and son-in-law, Kenneth Schwarz.

The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Ryan Walker Jazz Band Memorial Scholarship and may be sent in care of the Warren- McElwain Mortuary.

    I was sorry to see in the paper the passing of Vivian. She was one of my favorite people. She was so full of love and compassion. It is such a loss to lose both of them so close together but what a time they must be having together. Sincerely,
