Violet Fleming

Funeral services for Violet G. Fleming, 95, Eudora, KS, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at St. Pauls United Church of Christ in Eudora.  Burial will follow at Eudora Cemetery in Eudora, KS.  She died on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Medicalodges in Eudora.

Violet was born on June 11, 1917 in Eudora, KS the daughter of Carl C. and Viola (Votaw) Gerstenberger.

She was a housing director for the US Navy at Pt. Mugu, California and later was administrator at Babcock Place in Lawrence.

She was a life member of St. Pauls United Church of Christ.

She married Chester Alden Fleming on August 29, 1936.  He preceded her in death December 4, 2004. 

Survivors include one daughter, Karin McKean, Wichita, KS; one son, Carl Fleming, Eudora, KS; eight grandchildren, Carrie Fleming, Las Vegas, NV, Lisa Kessler, Naperville, IL, Angela Fleming, Overland Park, KS, Terry Kanzig, Miami Lakes, FL, Suzanne Murphy, San Francisco, CA, Patricia Allen, Lawrence, KS, Jennifer Dhanwantre, Ypsilanti, MI, John Andrew McKean, Wichita, KS; six great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Christina Kanzig. 

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Eudora Library Large Print Book Fund and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
