Service for Vicente “Vic” Bugtong Balawen, 82, Lawrence will be private. He died November 22, 2013 at his home.
Vic was born on May 8, 1931 in Ilocos Sur, Philippines the son of Balawen and Aquilina (Lipes) Bugtong.
He worked as a drilling superintendent for Lepanto Mines and Diamond Drilling Corporation in the Philippines until his retirement. He later worked at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in environmental services.
Vic married Teresa Mabitasan on 1957 in the Philippines. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Norma Schmidt (Karl) Lawrence, Linda Gulane (Jojo) Manila, Philippines, Susan Balawen Olarte, Lawrence; son, John Balawen, Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Vilma Balawen; 7 grandchildren, Vanessa, Nikolaus, Juler, Justin, Jeddalyn, Vincent, Hannah and niece, Lilia Lacky.
Memorials may be sent in his name to Visiting Nurses Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
