Graveside services for Timothy “Tim” J. Sylvester, 50, Lawrence will be held 10 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2011 at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Tim died October 11, 2011 at his home.

Tim was born on September 3, 1961 in Lawrence, KS the son of Allen Edward and Anna Jo (Shirk) Sylvester. 

He was self-employed in flooring. 

Survivors include his mother, of the home; daughter, Tia M. Garrison, Lawrence; brother; Jerry A. Sylvester, Lawrence; two nephews, Kyle C. Sylvester, Christopher J. Sylvester and granddaughter, Trinitie L. Garrison.  He was preceded in death by his father, Allen in 1986.

The family will greet friends from 7:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. 

Memorial contributions may be sent in his name to the American Cancer Society or Grace Hospice and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    We have known Tim for over 20 years. He acted more like a good friend to us than a flooring layer. We used to visit and enjoyed his smile so much. We saw him a month ago and told him he was always in our prayers. He fought the good fight and now he can rest. We will miss him.

    I knew Tim when we were both in our early 20’s. He was a cook, I was a bartender. I remember seeing his smiling face through the kitchen window. We met again more recently and he looked great. I was deeply saddened to read the news today of his death. So sorry. May God bless his soul.
