A celebration of life for Thomas Richard “Dick” Sheppard, 54, Lawrence will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd at 7:00 pm at the Clinton Lake Overlook, Shelter #1 (just north of the dam). He died July 18, 2014 in Lawrence. From Lawrence, take Clinton Parkway/23rd Street west to the end of the road. Make a right turn followed by the first left turn. Continue approximately one-fourth mile to park.
Dick was born on August 7, 1959 in Lawrence, KS the son of William Howard and Coral Jean (Schmittendorf) Sheppard. He grew up in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
Dick was vice president of Rain-Man Guttering, Inc., which was incorporated by Dick and his brother, John Sheppard, in 1994.
He married Shirley L. Kief on February 14, 1984. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Trenton Sheppard, Arizona and Drew Sheppard, of the home; brother, John Sheppard and wife, Linda, Lawrence; three sisters, Connie Hobbs, Florida, Joyce Tallman, Betty Sheppard, both of Lawrence. He was preceded in death by his son, Beau Sheppard, parents and sister, Susan Cramer.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society or Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Shirley, Trenton, and Drew – We were so saddened to hear this news. Dick was a great man and we know that his loss will be felt by many.
We are deeply sorry for your loss. We remember Dick as a cheerful man, and always willing to step up when help was needed (baseball, boy scouts and anything else if asked). He will be missed and we send our prayers to his family.
