Theresa Ward

Funeral service for Theresa A. “Terry” Ward, 60, Baldwin City, KS, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2009 at First Christian Church, Lawrence, KS.  Interment will follow at Welda Cemetery, Welda, KS.  Mrs. Ward died Monday, February 9, 2009 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on May 21, 1948 in Ottawa, KS, the daughter of Thomas and Ruby Hiestand Ensley.

She was a homemaker, devoted mother, and a member of the First Christian Church. In the church, she had taught Sunday school. She was also a former Girl Scout leader and had started a support group for Myasthenia Gravis.

Mrs. Ward was a former employee of Hallmark Cards and she drove a bus for USD #497 and worked for A-1 Taxi.  She later started her own business, Superior Shuttle Service.

She married Gary Howe.  They later divorced.  She then married Gary L. Ward on March 4, 1995 in Lawrence.  He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her father, Colony, KS; three daughters, Amy Gaines, and husband, John, Des Moines, IA, Julie Hoffer, and husband, Rod, Lawrence, KS, Lisa Rundell, and husband, Hugh,  Lawrence, KS; three step-daughters, Kristi Baldwin, Topeka, KS, Cora Martin, Angela Robb, both of Baldwin City, KS; two sisters, Rosa Blattner, Rozel, KS, Tamera Sanchez, Colony, KS; six grandchildren, Riley, Ruby, Hannah, Hope, Hunter, Orion.  She was preceded in death by her mother and three brothers.

The family will greet friends from 5:30 – 7 p.m. Friday, February 13, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggest memorial contributions in her name to Myasthenia Gravis Association and First Christian Church Children’s Ministry and sent in care of the mortuary.
