A celebration of life for Starr L. Shoemaker, 76, Eudora will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Friday, January 3, 2025, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel. She died December 25, 2024, at Homestead of Eudora.
She was born August 12, 1948, in Pittsburg, Kansas the daughter of Roy and Vera (Lakey) Wilson.
She was a Certified Medication Aid for Medicalodges in Eudora for over 40 years.
Starr was an avid Bingo player, enjoyed reading and shopping and loved a good night at the casino. She also loved anything to do with KU Basketball.
She married Larry Shoemaker on August 19, 1966, in Girard, KS. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, son, James, granddaughter Ashley, grandson Brian and her siblings.
Survivors include her two daughters, Kim Shoemaker and Tresa (John) Richardson; four grandchildren, Tarin Allen, Flandreau, SD, Aaron (Mandy) Shockley, Eudora, Taylor (Leonard) Kessler, Willard, KS, Randy (Amy) Shoemaker, Eudora; 12 great-grandchildren; four nieces and three nephews.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Charity of the Donor’s Choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Starr was such a sweet, caring individual. In your time of grief remember she made so many of her residents feel like family. I also enjoyed our opportunities to visit when I saw her around town.
