Shirley Case

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Case, 83, Lawrence will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Central United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  She died Friday, August 9, 2013 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Shirley was born August 9, 1930 in Copeland, KS the daughter of Arbie T. and Laura Estella (Noll)  Neel.

She lived in Lawrence since 1955.

She was a clerk in the University of Kansas Endowment office for 15 years until she retired in 1993.

Shirley was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Ester Circle at the church, Evangelist Chapter 7 and 162, the Rebekah Lodge, and Eastern Star.

She married John A. Carter in 1948.  They later divorced.  She then married Albert Franklin “Frank” Case on January 16, 1972 in Lawrence, KS.  He preceded her in death February 26, 2005.

Survivors include one son, John Carter and wife, Glenda, Lawrence; two stepsons, Michael Case, Lawrence, Robert Case, Baldwin City; one stepdaughter, Candice Teagarden, LaCygne, KS; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and 12 step great grandchildren.  She was also preceded in death by son, Avery T. Carter in May 2002; one sister; and two brothers.

The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the Epilepsy Foundation of Kansas and Missouri and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    I am sorry to hear of Shirleys passing, I remember her from Church my mother and her were friends in church, Rebekah’s and the Eastern Star. Prayers to the family…

    My prayers for all your family as you go through this grieving time. I remember Shirley fondly as a friend of my mother,Lydia Jones. Also through the contact at Central UMC. My brother, Richard Jones notified me of her passing.
