Sherrill M. Hershiser

Service for Sherrill M. Hershiser will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015 at First United Methodist Church ~ 946 Vermont Street ~ Lawrence.

 

Services and final arrangements are pending for Sherrill Marlene Hershiser. Sherrill passed away peacefully July 24th at the Baldwin Care Home in Baldwin City, KS. She was 75 years old.

Sherrill was born on September 3rd, 1939 in Kearney, Nebraska. Her parents were Amos and Mabel Gudgel. Sherrill attended Johnstown, NE elementary school and then graduated from Ainsworth (NE) High School in 1958. She married Robert Hershiser later that year and the couple had two sons, Craig, born in 1959 and Brad born in 1963. While raising their sons in Ainsworth she enjoyed working at McDonald’s Department Store. They lived in Spalding, NE and Greeley, NE and in Greeley they co-owned and operated a card and gift store. In 1986 Robert and Sherrill moved to Greensburg, KS to co-manage and renovate the Kansan Inn Motel which they did successfully for over 15 years.

Sherrill loved her family and enjoyed time surrounded by relatives. She had a smile for everyone at these occasions. She enjoyed holidays, baking, crafting, ceramics and creating floral arrangements. She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert, after 56 years of marriage. She is survived by her son, Craig, and daughter-in-law, Marcia, of Lawrence, KS. She is further survived by her son, Brad, of Lincoln, NE. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Megan, Cameron and Will.

    Please accept my sincere sympathy. Take comfort in God’s promise concerning the hope of being reunited with Sherrill when she is awakened from death’s sleep to live in a world without tears, where heartache and death will be no more. (Revelation 21:4)
