Scott Janssen

 

Mass of Christian Burial for Scott Janssen, 42, of DeSoto, Kansas will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Cure’ of Ars Catholic Church in Leawood, Kansas.  Services and burial will be in the Scott City Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas and announced later.  Scott died Saturday, October 24, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri.

He was born April 4, 1967 in Manhattan, Kansas the son of Alfred III and Sally (Gilliland) Janssen.  He was a graduate of Scott Community High School in 1986.  He received his B.A. in Animal Science from Kansas State University in 1991.

He was a professional horse trainer for many years.  He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and was a board member of Kansas Quarter Horse Association.

He attended Holy Family Catholic Church in Eudora, Kansas.

He was married to Lesley Karnes on November 15, 1994 in Dighton, Kansas.  She survives of DeSoto, Kansas.

Other survivors include his parents, Alfred III and Sally Janssen of  Scott City ; one brother, Craig Janssen of Bozeman, Montana; one sister, Kristin Janssen Nicholson of Lake Forest, Illinois.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, October 26, 2009 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Eudora Chapel in Eudora, Kansas.  The family suggests memorial contributions to the Kansas Quarter Horse Association Scholarship Fund, Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri or to the Kansas University Hospital Cancer Center and may be sent in care of Mortuary.   Further details may be obtained by visiting http://www.aqhascott.com.
