She was born Ruth Clinton Kerr, September 22, 1921 in Lawrence County, Missouri the daughter of William A. and Ethel Malinda (Johnson) Kerr.

She worked at Commerce Bank as an insurance company clerk for 30 years before retiring in 1984.

Ruth, who married for the first time at age 62, never had children of her own but she spent her life ministering to the children of other people. She loved them and took many to Bible camps in the summer and above all, she prayed frequently for “little children whose parents did not love the ;Lord”. She was an evangelist even to the end of her life, often speaking to people about her Savior in stores. She never let her Alzheimer’s disease interfere with her burden for people. She was a person who was always grateful. We rejoice at her example to us.
She married Frederick “Fred” Glenn Harvey October 13, 1984 in Springfield, MO. He preceded her in death January 17, 2005. They moved to
Lawrence in December 2003 and fellowshipped at the Lawrence Bible Chapel.

Survivors include three of her eleven siblings: Wendell Kerr, Springfield, MO; Kenneth Kerr, Odessa, MO; and Helen Dixon, West Plains, MO.
Survivors also include her three step sons: Lawrence Glenn Harvey (Connie), Hastings, Nebraska; Gerald Stephen Harvey (Stephanie), Lawrence, Kansas; and Richard Allen Harvey (Mary), Norman, Oklahoma. There are 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Memorials may be made in her name to the Lawrence Bible Chapel and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
