Rae “Rachel” Cynthia Longhurst

Rae “Rachel” Cynthia Longhurst passed away August 6, 2018 at Midland Care Hospice in Topeka, KS, of complications following surgery. There will be a service and remembrance for her at a later date.

Rachel was born April 25, 1950 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the daughter of John E. and Joan (Usher) Longhurst. She is survived by her brother David Longhurst, Lawrence, Kansas; her sister Paula Longhurst, Hurley, New Mexico; nieces and nephews; and long-time friends in Lawrence and Eskridge, Kansas.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to Eskridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Eskridge, Kansas, or to Midland Care in Topeka, Kansas, and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, Lawrence, Kansas.

    Rachel, old friend — I think of you and the word that comes to mind is KIND. Over all the years that we’ve known each other, having coffee together was the greatest delight. When all the news was shared and all the words said, just sitting together in silence over the hot, dark drink was all that was needed. Carol Leffler
