Paul Carey Duncan

Paul Carey Duncan, age 58, passed away unexpectedly on Monday November 13 in a car accident. Paul was the youngest of 4 children with three older sisters and was born to C.W. Duncan and Rose (m. Hehl) Duncan on December 15, 1964 in Jacksonville Florida. He was a driven, talented athlete who loved playing sports at Lake Wales High School before pursuing a Bachelors in History with Minors in Political Science and Chinese History at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In college, Paul played baseball and was known for being a jokester and prankster with his teammates, roommates, and friends. While in college, Paul met his wife, Michele, before marrying in June 1988.

Throughout his life, Paul was known for his dry, witty humor, constant Dad Jokes, and his knowledge of any topic or event. But most importantly, Paul was known as a family man. As a family, Michele and Paul spent the better part of 20 years watching their two daughters play soccer for local Lawrence and Kansas City teams. He could count on one hand how many soccer games he missed for both of his daughters. In his spare time, as a recent empty nester, Paul enjoyed reading for book club, mowing the lawn, and grilling when it was nice outside. He and Michele often would walk their two dogs together and enjoyed watching KU Basketball and Football, and Sporting KC soccer.

Paul is survived by his wife, Michele, and their two daughters, Kayla and Maria. He is also survived by his three sisters, Vickie, Renae, and Laura, and his parent sets Rose and Jim K., and C.W. and Priscilla D. Paul’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life ceremony at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Victory Project, Sporting Kansas City’s initiative to help children throughout all life challenges (https://www.paypal.com/donate?hosted_button_id=83XSPG5FYP9RE) in Paul’s Name. Paul was a fantastic boss, and an even better human being. On the outside, a man of few words but getting to know him these past 5 years has been a great privilege and I am a better man because of it.
Stay strong, and clean your room, bucko!

    Michele, Kayla, and Maria,
Paul was wonderful to work with. He cared about everyone and was very effective at his job. But what I will miss the most is his ability to make me smile! He shared a joke with almost every request, and usually they were even funny jokes.
I wish you peace in the days ahead. May the memories of experiences shared bring you comfort and may those bad Dad jokes bring a smile to your face.
