Onas B. Waltho

Private family services for Onas Burkhart Waltho, 91, Lawrence will be held at a late date. She passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.

Onas was born September 19, 1923 in Merino, Colorado the daughter of John F. and Alida R. (Cliffman) Burkhart.

She worked for Hallmark Cards for 22 years and retired in 1985. She was a Past President and member of the Pilot Club and Past Commander of the Disabled Veterans Auxiliary.

She married Percy Waltho on July 7, 1945 in Buffalo, New York and he preceded her in death on December 29, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her son, Jack Waltho, two brothers and a sister.

Onas is survived by her son, Jeffrey Waltho and his wife, Diane of Lawrence; two grandchildren, Jonathan Waltho of Lawrence and Jenna Waltho of Las Vegas, NV; one sister, Jean Shaw of Jacksonville, FL.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the American Diabetes Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    I worked with Onas many years. She was my favorite boss. I had a large amount of respect for her. My prayers are with all of you at this time.
