Nicki Gale Hedgecock

Nicki Gale Hedgecock, age 61, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at her home.

Nicki was born on October 18, 1962, in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Robert Earl and Sandra (Smith) Garner. She was always happiest when surrounded by her friends and family, and was tireless in her efforts to let those around her know how much she treasured them. She was spirited throughout her years and brought joy to many.

She worked hard and held many positions during her working years. Nicki lived in the country for much of her children’s lives, which allowed for many different types of animals, from your typical dogs and cats to pigs and emu. She loved watching her kids grow as they climbed trees, explored old barns, rode their bikes, and had water balloon fights. By the end of the day, Nicki would use an old horn to call her children back home. They always came running.

Nicki loved to travel (especially if it resulted in visiting her family), taking her dogs on walks, gardening and going fishing. Out of all of the holidays, Christmas was by far her favorite and she would start listening to carols as soon as possible.

She is survived by her children, Dillon, Brandi, Rachell and Avery Jr; her husband of 11 years, Avery; her mother Sandra; her siblings Robert, Bill, and Eugena; and her grandchildren Hailey, Avery III, Cosmo, and Zefram.

There are no formal services scheduled at this time. Nicki’s family will hold a small, private celebration of her life.

She will be truly missed, sending love to the Family , I will miss my days of phone calls or occasional visits of us catching up on what was going on with her or my family. As our families grew we didn’t get together as much for gatherings. I will miss you my sweet Nic Nic . Love always

I worked with Nicki years ago at the Salvation Army. She always had a smile on her face and had a great contagious laugh. It was a joy knowing her even for that short time we passed through one another’s lives as coworkers. She was a special lady. To her kids, grandkids and family; I am truly sorry for your loss. Sending thoughts your way.
