Mass of Christian Burial for Mary James, 90, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Mary passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at her home.
Mary was born March 6, 1925 in Independence, KS, the daughter of Eulogio and Cleofas (Sandoval) Rodriguez.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting and loved her Chihuahua dogs she bred.
She was at Lawrence Memorial Hospital and then King Radio until she retired.
She married Pete L. James, Sr. January 29, 1946 in Kansas City, KS. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include four daughters, Connie Garcia and husband, Andrew, Lawrence, Margaret Hernandez and husband, Philip, Kansas City, KS, Rosalie Copp and husband, Monti, Lawrence, KS, Candace Thompson and husband, Rick, Eudora, KS; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; three sisters; and one brother. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Pete L. James, Jr. in 1970; one grandson, Jay D. Dolan, Jr; brother, John Rodriguez and sister, Victoria Perez.
The family will greet friends from 6 – 8 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Friday, October 16th at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church or VNA Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

My Godmother meant the world to me, she always had a Beautiful smile and a very kind heart! I will forever remember the wonderful moments we shared together. I grew up knowing she would always be there for me! I was truly blessed to have her as my Aunt and as my Godmother! I love her with all my heart and will miss her dearly! Love Teresa

I am so sorry for your loss. I loved visiting with Aunt Mary because she reminded me so much of my Grandma. I will always be remember her as my Grandma Cita’s twin! I hope each of will find comfort in all of the memories you share of her as I know I will!
