A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Grace Paez, 19, Lawrence, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence. She died October 14, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Paez was born November 1, 1990 in the Philippines, the daughter of Vincent and Cecilia Gutay Paez.
She was a 2010 Lawrence High School graduate and attended St. Johns the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence. She was also a member of the Filipino American Association.
Ms. Paez worked at the Hallmark distribution center as a production operator. She had planned to attend nursing school this fall.
Survivors include her mother and father; one sister, Marvie Paez, Lawrence, KS; two brothers, Paul Joseph Paez, and Vincent Paez, Jr., both of Lawrence, KS; maternal grandmother Charlita Nathan and step grandfather Ardel Nathan, both of Lawrence, KS; paternal grandmother Felicidad Paez; aunts Rita Paez, Chola Paez, and Laly Paez, and uncles, Teddy Paez and Joey Paez, all of California; and two uncles, Tony Mijares, Lawrence, KS, and Tony Rimando, and wife, Remy, Lawrence, KS.
A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. on Monday, October 18, 2010 and a visitation will follow until 8 p.m. at the mortuary.

I was so shocked when Gilda woke me up this morning to tell me the very sad news.I still wished it’s not really her until I read the paper to confirm it.

Mary Grace was always someone who could make anyone smile and laugh. She was always happy and full of life. She made my day every time I saw her warm, welcoming smile. I am truly sorry for your loss. This happen too soon.

i studied with marygrace since we were in 2nd grade at hillcrest together. we went to southwest and later in highschool. i am saddened to hear the news but my regards to her family and loved ones. and may god rest her soul in peace. we miss u marygrace and love u so much.
