Mary A. Down

Celebration of Life services for Mary A. Down, 66, Lawrence will be held from noon – 3:00 p.m. Sunday, January 12, 2020 at The Club House inside Easy Living in Lawrence. She passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas.

Mary was born on October 14, 1953 in Kanopolis, Kansas, the daughter of Lee and Mary (Curtis) Bray.
Mary worked as a CNA for 25 + years; primarily at Valley View and Brandon woods. She also worked at Scotch Laundry, and Kansas University in the janitorial division.

Mary had been married to Bobby Herren (deceased) and Tom Down, and they later divorced.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (John) Sayler; son, Bobby (Holly) Herren Jr., sister, Virginia Frazier, five grandchildren; Christopher, Cassie, Hailey, Hanna, Hayden, and eight great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, son, Donnie Herren, and brother, Alan Bray.

    My deepest sorrows go out to you shirley and the rest of the family i seen Christopher’s facebook and just bawled… She was a good woman and could make anyone laugh their asses off she sure was a firecracker…. I can still remember when she would say”LISTEN TO ME OR LISTEN LISTEN I SAID ” AND WHATEVER SHE WAS GOING TO SAY.. She could definitely brighten up the room or surely make u laugh soo hard u almost piss yourself……. NOW SHES IN HEAVEN playing with her son and her great granddaughter REILEIGH being able to enjoy her self again while shes still WATCHING OVER EVERYONE SHE LEFT BEHIND HOPE YOU FIND PEACE IN HER PASSING LOVE Y’ALL

    Very sad to hear of Mary’s passing. I worked at the press in front of hers at Scotch dry cleaners where we became friends. She was a wonderful person who was always kind to me and will never be forgotten. Deepest condolences, LeAnn Ward

    I miss grandma marry so much she would always make me laugh when I started my period she said ooh now it’s time to start looking for cute boys she was my best friend I will always miss her she would always accept anyone who came into are life we will always love her love u grandma ????????
