Margie Ann (Collins) Young

Memorial visitation for Margie Ann (Collins) Young, 83, Eudora, formerly a longtime resident of Lawrence, will be held Wednesday, February 18, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. A rosary service will be held at 6:30 p.m. She died February 14, 2015 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Margie was born on November 7, 1931 in Junction City, KS the daughter of Kenneth Brice and Ann (Welsh) Collins.

Margie worked for the City of Lawrence as a secretary for many years in the Parks and Recreation Department. She was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lawrence.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Joe Collins.

Survivors include four daughters: Linda and husband Ed Lee of Americus, KS, Carol and husband Jon Amyx of Lawrence, KS, Jill Giroux and husband Richard Vanderwoude of Phoenix, AZ, Pamela Young, Shawnee, KS; one son, Cyrus F. Young, Jr. and Tatum Harmsen of Omaha, NE; eight grandchildren: Kelly Johnson, Jay Amyx, Kimberly Barnes, Joe Amyx, Sara Schwatken, Lauren Gomez, Bailey Nelson, and Sydney Young, and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    I was very sorry to see That Margie had passed away. I’d had just thought about going to see her. I was privileged to serve her for a few years and we had some wonderful times. She will be missed. Please accept my condolences. (I worked for Trinity In-Home Care)

    So sorry to hear of Margie’s passing. What a great lady — and so much fun to be around … always loved her sence of humor and the “digs” we would all give one another when working together with P&R — good memories. God Bless you all..
