Malena Garcia

Memorial services for Malena Garcia, 37, Lawrence will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. The family will greet friends before and after the service. She passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at Olathe Hospice House.

Malena was born February 2, 1979 in Lawrence, Kansas the daughter of Leon Garcia, Jr. and Lee Ann (Blalock) Martin.

She was dedicated to cultural diversity throughout her life passing it on to her children making sure traditions are still being kept alive. She enjoyed beading, pow wows, all music, being outdoors in Utah, reading and she loved laughing.

She married Mathius R. Wopsock on March 20, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives of the home.

Survivors include her mother, Lee Ann Martin (Bruce), Oklahoma; her children, Seth James Palmer (16), Maizee R. Wopsock (10), Kat-Lee N. Wopsock (7) and Redstone M. Wopsock (5), all of Lawrence; brother, Michael K. (Lana) Garcia and their children, Addeline and Lawson all of Lawrence. She was preceded in death by her father, Leon on January 4, 2015; and by her grandparents.

Services will also be held on Sunday, December 18th in Miami, OK.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in her name to the Malena Garcia Memorial Fund for her children’s education and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
