Loris E. Banker

Memorial service for Loris E. Banker, 91, Lawrence will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at First Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will take place in the Church Memorial Gardens at a later date. Mrs. Banker died October 18, 2014 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar. She moved to Lawrence in 1993 from Liberal, KS.

She was born on August 27, 1923 in Hugoton, Kansas the daughter of Oliver L. and Jennie E. (King) Swafford.

Loris was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She married Alfred “Gene” Banker on October 3, 1942 in Plains, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2012.

Survivors include daughters, Connie J. Drake, Topeka, KS, Patricia D. Rumbaugh, (Eldon) Junction City, KS; son, Steven E. Banker (Loralee) Snowflake, AZ; daughter-in-law, Sherry Banker (Terry G. Banker deceased in 2004), Lawrence; 6 grandchildren, Jeff Drake (Catherine), Matt Drake (Jane), Kelli Raney (David), Mark Banker (Amanda), Benjamin Parr, Nathan Parr (Andrea) and 10 great grandchildren, Ian, Jack, Grace, Luke, Rowan, Christian, Lane, Caleb, Alexa, Rylan.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Grace Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    I really enjoyed taking care of her and your dad they were very neat people always enjoyed visiting with her she will be missed by all of us she always wanted to help us girls with what ever we were doing my prayers are with the family( debra frombrandonwoods)

    We’re sorry to hear of Aunt Loris’ passing. Our Christmas card to her was returned, and I didn’t have any other phone numbers. We have good memories; Don particularly liked joking with her, and she always won!
