Leslie “Les” A. Young, 76, Lawrence passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 peacefully in his home. Les was born November 11, 1938 in Osawatomie, KS, the son of Noah & Maudie Young. He was a resident at Community Living Opportunities in Lawrence, KS since April 1991.
Les enjoyed visiting Muncher’s Bakery regularly for donuts; eating his favorite foods, especially bread, pasta, and PB&J. He enjoyed beautiful weather on his back patio or at the lake; listening to country classics and easy listening music. He enjoyed gentle hugs with friends, lounging on his favorite couch, sometimes cuddling with his favorite roommate, always wearing a bandana around his neck and have something to hold on to, such as his bandana, shoelace, or a massager.
He is survived by his brother and guardian, Noah Young, Freeport, IL; his sister, Stella Johnson, Pittsburg, PA; three roommates of 24 years, including his dear friend, Ada; Kerrick Ray and many other friends and teachers at CLO. He was preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Memorial Park Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at Community Living Opportunities, 2113 Delaware Street, Lawrence, KS 66046.
A special “thank you” to Grace Hospice for providing Les with peace and comfort in his final days.
