Larry McGlinn, Jr.

 A Memorial Gathering for Larry Fisk McGlinn, Jr., 57, Lawrence, KS will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence, KS.  Private inurnment will be at a later date at the Altoona Cemetery in Altoona, KS.  He died on Friday, December 7, 2012 at his home. 

 
Larry was born on December 4, 1955 in Neodesha, KS, the son of Larry F. McGlinn, Sr. and Shirley Ann Rakestraw McGlinn.  He had lived in Lawrence since 1965, when he moved here from Neodesha.  He was a Lawrence High School graduate.  He was baptized and a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Neodesha.    
 
He was a long-time painting contractor and had most recently worked for Lawrence Decorating Service.
 
Larry was an avid bass tournament fisherman in and around Lawrence and was well-known for his skills.  He had worked part-time at Lunker’s Bait in Lawrence as well as Bass Pro in Olathe.  He was also a life member of the NRA.  
 
Survivors include a daughter, Ashley McGlinn, of Lawrence, KS, his parents, Larry and Shirley McGlinn, Sr., of Lawrence, KS, two sisters, Teresa (husband, Richard) Magnuson, of Lawrence, KS, Tracey (husband, Jack) Schafer, of Lawrence, KS, three grandsons, Nicholas Wallace, Cameron Doyle, Parker Doyle, three nephews, Patrick and Jacob Magnuson, Cole Schafer all of Lawrence and his companion, Patty Ogle, of Worden, KS.
 
The family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. 
 
The family suggests memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    I’am so sorry about Larry. I remember when he worked with Melvin,he was alot of fun to be around,Tammy and Tim enjoyed him also. He could put a smile on your face the minute he came in the room. My prayers are with you and your family. He will never be forgotten.

    My condolences to Larrys family. I had the privlage of working with Larry at Lunker. I knew a little about fishing, however once i started working with Larry, he gave me a true understanding of the ins and outs of bass fishing.
