Kyle David Duncan

Kyle David Duncan, age 17, of Perry, Kansas, passed away tragically on March 23, 2024. He was born on August 16, 2006, in Lawrence, Kansas.

Kyle was a junior at Free State High School. He was currently anticipating an exciting club basketball season with some longtime teammates and coaches, with hopes of playing basketball in college. He was looking forward to a hiking trip with his sister this summer in Colorado.

Kyle was a young man who had a passion for life. His interests included basketball, nature, Camp Chippewa, animals, gaming, riflery, camping, canoeing, chic fil A, friends, and family. Kyle will be sorely missed by all.

He is survived by his sister, Aubrey Duncan, his father, Donald Duncan, his mother, Teresa Duncan, his grandmother, Linda Koetterheinrich, his grandfather, Paul Koetterheinrich, his grandfather, David Duncan, his aunt, Cristy Nelson, his uncles, Dave Nelson (Ashley & Alesha) and Daniel Duncan, Ross McCall (Angie Hack, Jax Hack and Lincoln McCall) his cousins, Taylor Reitz, Daniel Duncan and Tyler Duncan.

Kyle was preceded in death by his grandmother, Ruth Duncan.

He attended Woodlawn for primary school, St. Johns for middle school and Bishop Seabury and Free State for high school.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Contributions in honor of Kyle can be made to the Douglas County Community Foundation. They will be used to support youth in endeavors Kyle was fortunate to be able to participate in.

    I knew Kyle for over 12 years and I saw him grow into a super smart, super tall and super handsome young man. It’s still so hard to process his passing… He was a sweetheart and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Godspeed kiddo!

    I remember Kyle as my fourth-grade student at Woodlawn. He was so intelligent and curious about the world. He was kind to everyone and had such a lovely personality and sense of humor. I am saddened by this news. Please hang in there, I am thinking of you all during this difficult time.

    Weegee just called to tell me. We spent a lot of time with Kyle in the gym during and after school during Woodlawn days. We both were really fond of him. What a just genuinely nice and kind boy. We feel for you.
