Kathy L. Johansen of Baldwin City, KS passed away on September 28, 2015.
Kathy was born on April 28, 1959 in Emporia, KS to Stacy and Sheri Johansen.
Kathy attended Lyndon Elementary School and Melvern High School. She attended Wichita State University and graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. She later went on to receive her Masters degree from Mid America University.
She taught at Marais des Cygnes Valley Elementary School, Wellsville Elementary, and Baldwin Junior High School. Kathy taught Language Arts in total for 34 years and was passionate about making a difference in the lives of her students.
Kathy loved to travel and was privileged to visit many different places throughout the world.
Kathy is survived by her daughter, Kyleigh Roberson and her husband Ryan Roberson of Baldwin City, KS; her sister Cynthia and Stephen Burnett of Topeka, KS; her brother Jon Johansen and Brian Adkins of Kansas City, MO; her sister Kris and Paulo Villaca of Baldwin City, KS; her brother Scott Worrell and Cynda of Lafayette, IN; her sister Penny and David Hunsberger of Darlington, IN; her sister Kentra and Johnie Johnson of Avon, IN and her niece Bella Villaca, her nephew Drew Villaca and many other nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Kathy’s honor to the ALS Association and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
A celebration of life service is planned for Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Baldwin First United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, KS.
To the family of Kathy,
Our hearts and prayers are with you all as you grieve the loss of precious Kathy. Her legacy will continue to live on through the many students and non-students lives she touched. It was a blessing to meet her. Even with her ALS she was such a tremendous inspiration to others to keep on persevering with all life dealt her. May God wrap his arms around you and give you comfort at this most difficult time. I know that she was welcomed into heaven with open arms.
