Kathi was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She had her dad’s blue eyes and what was left of his hair. Just before her ninth birthday, her family moved to Lenexa, KS. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School and Shawnee Mission Northwest, graduating in 1977. She earned an Associates of Art degree from Johnson County Community College in 1983. She worked for YRC since 1985 in networking and information technology. She was a dedicated, hard worker who enjoyed visiting the many Yellow terminals around the US.

Kathi had a wide range of interests including travel, photography, sports – especially softball, her pets, wildlife, the local arboretum, her Harley Davidson motorcycle and her wonderful group of friends. Kathi had friends everywhere: at the gym, on the many teams she had played on, in her neighborhood, at work and her “wino buddies”. Despite her diagnosis, Kathi continued to go to the gym for many months.

Kathi’s family includes her sister and brother-in-law, Coleen McNerney and Craig Rychlick of Albany, OR, her longtime friend and love, Larry Kaehler of Deltona, FL, her aunt, Martha O’Donnell of Spearfish, SD, many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary McNerney, and several wonderful pet dogs.

A celebration of her life will be held Sun., Oct 12 at the Overland Park Arboretum from 1-3 PM with the memorial starting at 1:30. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Kansas City Hospice, Overland Park Arboretum, Caring Bridge, Habitat for Humanity, City Union Mission, Wayside Waifs or a charity of your choice.
