Joseph Hickock

Memorial services for Joseph Lynn Hickock, 52, Lawrence will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.  Inurnment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.  He died Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at his home.

He was born May 14, 1958 in Lawrence, KS the son of Joseph Loving Hickock, Jr. and Charline (Scribner) Hickock.

Mr. Hickock was a life-long resident of Lawrence.  He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1976.  He graduated with a Locksmithing diploma, from The Foley-Belsaw Institute in February of 1989 and Barbering school at Capital City Barber College in February 1991.  He also attended the University of Kansas.

Over the years, he worked as a locksmith and barber.

Survivors include his mother, Lawrence; one son, Lucas Lauren Herrick, and wife, Natalie, Alaska; three grandsons, Landin Lee, Lance Loren, and Logan Lewis Herrick; one sister, Linda Sloan, Lawrence; one niece, Joanna Sloan; and one nephew, Christopher Sloan.  He was preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Laura Jean Hickock.

The family suggests memorials in his name to American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    My sincere condolences on Joe’s sudden death. He was a kind-hearted gentleman, and I consider it an honor to be his physician over the years.

    I realize this is a year later- I just happened to find JL’s obituary tonight. I am so sorry. Linda always talked about him at college lol. My condolences to Charline and Linda…

    Joe was a great guy. I’ll never forget the day we found out we were both Star Trek fans – good memories!
