JoAnn Transmeier

Graveside services for JoAnn Transmeier, 72, rural Lawrence, KS, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2010 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.

She died on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at her home.

Mrs. Transmeier was born on April 10, 1938 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of Duane and Opal Wiggins Johnson.

She was a retired food service employee for Pinckney Elementary School in Lawrence.  She retired in 2007.  She formerly worked at the Lawrence Paper Company, Kansas Color Press, Hallmark Cards and the Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant.

Mrs. Transmeier was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary in Lawrence.

She was married to Marvin Transmeier July 1, 1956 in Lawrence.  He preceded her in death August 25, 1987.

Survivors include her companion, Richard Wustefeld, of the home, a daughter, Susan Transmeier (husband, John Johnson), two granddaughters; Rachelle Arvizu and Tonya Arvizu, three great grandchildren; Kayleigh Nunez, Shyanne LaBlue, and Travis Williams. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra LeeAnnTransmeier in July 2008.

The family will greet friends from 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family suggests memorials in her name to the JoAnn Transmeier Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
