Funeral services for Jerry D. Hanzlick, 81, Eudora, will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel in Eudora. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the Hoisington City Cemetery in Hoisington, KS. Jerry passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at his home.
Jerry was born on October 15, 1941 in Great Bend, KS the son of Vernon and Elizabeth (Lehning) Hanzlick.
He graduated from Beeler High School and Fort Hays State University. He played baseball at Dodge City Community College where he played an exhibition game at the Airforce Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. He also played baseball at Fort Hays State University.
Jerry retired from his career of 60 years in banking, his last position as president of Solutions North Bank in Hill City, KS. He also taught Banking Seminars at Kansas State University. His passion was farming, where he took pride in his wheat crops and enjoyed tending to his cattle.
He was a member of Warring Dove International Missions Ministry.
He was involved with supporting the local 4-H groups. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He was an avid supporter of Wycliffe Bible Translators and Navigators. He was a life long collector of Indian Artifacts and Fossils.
He married Joyce Woydziak on May 27, 1972 in Hoisington, KS. She resided in their home.
Other survivors include his children, Julia Hanzlick-Krumme of Lenexa, KS; Joel (Melissa) Hanzlick of Olathe, KS; Jessica (Kevin) Willmann of Collinsville, IL; seven grandchildren, Drake, Malia, Pierce, Avery, Reese, Evelyn and Jaret; his nephews, Doug Christie and Rod Christie and great-niece, Hannah Christie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Jaret Matthew Hanzlick, his sister Norma and her husband, Larry Christie.
The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary – Eudora Chapel.
The family suggests memorials in Jerry’s name to the Jerry Dean Tree Fund or NRA may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.

Joyce and Family – Your Jerry was a great guy… a Christian man, family man, neighbor, friend, and Farmers State Bank co-worker! His loss will be huge to so many. My mother, Gladys Rowley, and I had the privilege of working with him. I worked at FSB in the summers during my KU days when he began his banking career. My best to you all.
