Jay Cross

Funeral service for Jay A. Cross, 41, Topeka, will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery with military honors.    Mr. Cross died March 4, 2009 at his home.

He was born on July 30, 1967 in Fort Riley, Kansas, the son of James K. and Helen M. Nitsch Cross.

 

He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1986.  He worked in apartment maintenance.  He is a military veteran after 22 years service in the National Guard.

 

He married Pam Jackson on April 10, 2007.  She survives of the home.

 

Other survivors include, his mother, Helen, Lawrence; one daughter, Justine Elizabeth Cross, Washington State; three sons, Jared Michael Kenneth, Lawrence, Daniel Jackson, Jared Jackson, both of Topeka; one brother, James Snell, Overland Park, KS; three sisters, Julie Hauer, Hacienda Heights, CA; Mary McClacherty, Cleveland, Ohio; Sheri Pfeifer, Lawrence; and one grandson, Tanner Blake Chapin.  He was preceded in death by his father on November 29, 2003.   

 

The family will greet friends on Friday, March 6, 2009 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the mortuary.

 

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Jay Cross Memorial Fund and sent in care of the mortuary.
