James Huff

Funeral services for James Z. Huff, 85, Lawrence will be held at 1:30pm, Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.  Additional services will be held in Albany, KY at a later date with burial at Irwin Cemetery in Clinton County, KY.

Jim was born on December 5, 1926 in Clinton County, KY, the son of Robert A. and Oza May (Keeton) Huff. 

He was a printing pressman for 27 years with the University of Kansas Printing Service.  He retired in 1989.  He served in the Army during World War II in the Military Police Corp.  For many years he was a member of the International Organization of Odd Fellows (IOOF) and was a past Grand Master.  He was also a dedicated volunteer for the Multiple Sclerosis Society and an avid fan of KU basketball.

He married Phyllis M. Snavely on April 10, 1956 in Fayetteville, AR.  She preceded him in death on March 18, 2003. 

Survivors include his daughter, Jannette Lee (Jan), and husband, James H. Soper, Lenexa KS; a sister, Anna Sue Smith, Albany, KY; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will greet friends from 6:00pm to 7:30pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to Midwest Ear Institute or LMH Endowment Association for the Kreider Rehabilitation Facility and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
