James Turner

Funeral services for James Turner, 63, Lawrence will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.  Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.  He died December 26, 2011 at his home.

James was born on April 19, 1948 in Hollandale, MS the son of A.D. and Annie Mae Turner Hicks.  

He worked in the Sanitation Department for the City of Lawrence for 29 years..                         

Survivors include one son, James “J.T.” Turner, Lawrence, KS; three brothers, Joseph Hicks, and wife, Carolyn, Lawrence, Christopher Turner, Wichita, KS, T.C. Hunter, Topeka, KS; two sisters, Elizabeth, and husband, Alfred Cooper, Lawrence, and Loretta Turner Cobbs, and husband, Otha, Topeka, KS.

The family will greet friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. 

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Douglas County Visiting Nurses, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
