James Butler

Private graveside service for James Leroy Butler, 76, Eudora, KS, will be held at a later date in Eudora Cemetery in Eudora, KS.  He died on Monday, July 16, 2012 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

James was born on February 19, 1936 in Lawrence, KS the son of James Leroy Butler, Sr. and Winifred Butler.

He worked as a handyman. He served in the United States Navy.  He was a member of VFW.

Survivors include two step-daughters, Laurie Barnhart and Jodie Christopherson both of Eudora; three step-sons Tommie Christopherson, Jr of Topeka, Lonnie Christopherson of Lawrence and Larry Christopherson of Tampa, FL; step grandchildren, Jessica Wilson, Kalabe Wilson, Justin Christopherson, Amanda Christopherson, Dereck Menter and Jeremy Christopherson.  He was preceded in death by a step son John Christopherson.

The family suggests memorials in his name to the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    It is very sad to see that he is gone now, i haven’t seen him in many years i wish i could have seen him before his passing. great thanks to jim as i knew him. As a child he was there for me and my slibings along with my mother he was a great man. You will be missed im just sorry we didnt meet again before he was gone, my prayers go out to the family.
