Jack Gene Duff

Memorial service for Jack Gene Duff, 82, Lawrence will be private. He died October 26, 2013 at his home.

He was born on October 14, 1931 in Sioux City, Iowa the son of Adam L. and Freda (Meier) Duff.

Jack served in the US Air Force during the Korean War.

He was a life member of the American Legion. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited, Topeka Racing Pigeon Club, Sioux City Gun Club, and the NRA. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman.

He married Yvonne E. Ashman on August 8, 1952 in Sioux City, Iowa. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Carlson and husband, Bob, Shari Gerling, all of Lawrence; four grandchildren, Scott Carlson, Brandon Carlson, Angela Calixte, Hillary Gerling; five great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Gracie, Ryan, Jackson and Tyson; one sister, Joanne Sims, Sublette, KS; and two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by one nephew, Steve Sims

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Operation Wildlife and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Dear Shari,
    I am so sorry and shocked to read about your dad in the SC Journal this morning. We were just talking about your parents and now this. I wish I could be there to give you a big hug and help you in some small way.

    How sorry and sad it is to hear about Jack. We have thought about both you often.. Since McCook Lake and Gun Club there in late 50s and later Sioux Shooting Park. Likely some of the pigeons missed there are now racing in Topeka.
