Funeral services for Jack Erwin Goodwin, 90, Lawrence, will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at the Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Military Graveside will be at 2:30 p.m at Leavenworth National Cemetery. He died May 26, 2011 at the Eudora Medicalodges.
He was born July 18, 1920 in Toledo, Ohio the son of Erwin M. and Mahala (Childs) Goodwin.
Jack served his country in the United States Air Force and retired as Colonel after 25 years of service. He served during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. He received a Bronze Star.
He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and Air Force Association.
He married Mak Nae on July 8, 1974 in Seoul, South Korea. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2004.
Other survivors include two sons Keith E. Goodwin of Lawrence; Jun Park of Lawrence and two grandchildren, Christopher Bryan and Grace Goodwin.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kay D. Gillard; a sister, Marianna Franze, and a brother, William C. Goodwin.
The family suggests memorials in his name to American Cancer Society or to the VFW and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
The family will greet friends from 4-6 p.m. on Monday, May 30, 2011 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
My sincere condolences to Keith and Jun and there extended friends and family for the loss of Jack Goodwin this past week. I will always cherish the time that Lee and I got to spend with Uncle Jack over the past three summers. Take heart and hold him close in your memories.
Uncle Jack was a very strong and honorable man. My condolences to Keith and the family. He is in good hands now and making everyone laugh with his jokes. I will always remember spending time with him, Keith and grandma. What GREAT memories to have.
