A Celebration of Life Open House for friends of the family of Irvin Lewis Durflinger, 78, Lawrence will be held Tuesday, June 8 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at 4504 Oak Tree Ct., Lawrence, KS. Inurnment will be at a later date in Pretty Prairie, Kansas.
He died June 1, 2010 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Durflinger was born March 30, 1932 in Hutchison, Kansas the son of Edward and Mary (Drolte) Durflinger.
Irvin worked in Agriculture sales and retired in 1999 from Suther Feed in Frankfort, Kansas. He had been in the Navy Reserves. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 14 in Lawrence.
He married Clara Miles on October 12, 1974 in Salem, OR. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include three children, Ronald Durflinger and his wife Christine, Lawrence; Douglas Day, Salem, OR, and Deborah Miller, Olympia, WA; a brother, Donald Durflinger and his wife, Donna, Douglas, KS; a sister, Esther Fisher and her husband, Arlen, Seiling, OK; nine grandchildren, Autumn Lee and husband, Michael, Salem, OR; Joshua Durflinger and Emily Durflinger, Perry, KS; Ami Daley and her husband, Richard; Ronald Hizer and wife, Aletta, Yokosuka, Japan; Douglas Day, Jr. and Aaron Day, Salem, OR, Brandon Miller, Portland, OR, and Casey Miller, Olympia, WA; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Margaret, two sons, Raymond and Corwin and brother, Glen and his wife, Violet.
The family suggests memorials to American Parkinson Disease Association and may be sent in care of the Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
