Helen Mae (Dietrich) Miller

Memorial services for Helen Mae (Dietrich) Miller, 93, will be held at 11:00 a.m. December 9, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence. Helen passed away peacefully Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, KS.

Helen was born November 24, 1924 in Lawrence, KS, the daughter of William and Marguerite (Vogler) Dietrich. She graduated from Liberty Memorial High School (LH) in 1942. She worked at Hallmark Card Manufacturer in Lawrence, KS for several years and retired from Bowen’s Hallmark Cards in Topeka, KS.

She married Cecil Miller August 11, 1972 in Miami, OK. He preceded her in death in 2003.

Survivors include her four children, Michael Miller of Baldwin City, KS, Dennis Patrick (Sanda) Miller of Olathe, KS, Angela (Steve) McClure of Lecompton, KS and Tim (Angie) Miller of Emporia, KS; her brother, David G. Higgins of Oskaloosa, KS; eight grandchildren, Lisa Borger, Sherry Haskell, Patty Ganaden, Linda Arensberg, Scott Miller, Matt McClure, Chrissy Mayer, Lauren Miller; 15 great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Harold A. McKay and sisters, Ruby Pringle and Shirley Schulmeyer.

The family will greet friends on Saturday, December 9th at 10 a.m. one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. at the mortuary.

The family suggests memorials to Holiday Resort Walkway Fund, Emporia, KS or to a charity of the donor’s choice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044

    Angie, Tim, Pat, Mike and all the Grandchildren she loved so dearly. We are so sorry to learn of your loss. She was such a sweet lady and we never saw her without a smile on her face. May your happy memories bring you comfort during this difficult time.
