Funeral services for Gilbert Lee “Junior” Stone, 78, Lawrence will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Hesper Friends Church, Hesper, KS. Burial will follow at Hesper Friends Cemetery. He died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at his home.
Junior was born December 15, 1935 in Rural Johnson County, KS the son of Gilbert Lee and Mildred (Howell) Stone.
He was an organ key maker for Reuter Organ Company for more than 50 years. He retired in 2004.
Survivors include one brother, Herbert “Herb” Stone and wife Ruth, Rural Eudora, KS; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; and two brothers.
Gilbert was my neighbor for many years. He was one of the kindest, sharing persons I ever knew and many in the neighborhood would tell me that same exact thing about him. He also had a practical wisdom about him of living simply and accepting life as it was. He will be missed.
