George Ward

A Memorial service for George W. Ward, 91, Lawrence, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Inurnment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. George donated his body to The University of Kansas Medical Center.  He died  Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Brandon Woods at Alvamar. He had been a Lawrence resident for over 60 years.

He was born July 7, 1920 in Montgomery County, IA, the son of George and Opal (Walker) Lytell.  He was adopted by the Ward family.

He received a degree in Journalism and Public Information from the William Allen White School of Journalism at The University of Kansas.  He served his country in the United States Army for 12 years.  He retired from the University of Kansas in 1976.

He is survived by a longtime dear friend, Virginia Keen, Lawrence. Other survivors include: three daughters, one son and two sisters.  He was preceded in death by one daughter.
