Jerry Dean Nelson

Jerry Nelson, 71, of Lawrence, KS was taken from us suddenly February 26, 2021. He is survived by his wife Debbie, his children Ginny (Kenneth) Kimmel, Jerlyn (Mike) Monroe, Jerry (Natalie) Nelson, stepchildren Misty (Kenny) Eaton, Elizabeth (Ernie) Cooper, Jarrett Roeber and many more family members… too many to list but loved just as fiercely.
He was the Proud grandfather to Jessica, James, Justine (Ginny), Abby, Olivia (Jerlyn), Gabrielle, Lucas (Jerry), Ashli, Codilyn, Kevin (Misty), Destri, Darren (Bubba), Zach, Paige, Courtney, Kayla, Kaden (Jarrett), CJ, Makayla, Jayden (Elizabeth).
The Proud great grandfather to Calista, Cliffton (Codilyn), Layla (Kevin).
He left this world to join his dearly loved parents, brother, sisters, friends and his loyal dog Harley (a dog only he could love). His plan from this moment on is to become “a man of leisure” doing what he loved most… camping, fishing, watching Nascar and the Jayhawks with his trusted pet at his side.
For a man who loved racing cars and driving fast, in his younger days in Watertown, SD, he was often spotted around town in a rusty old truck with the window down, elbow out the window, driving too slow (frustrating those who trailed behind) as if he had not a care in the world.
He will be missed.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Empire Bar & Billiards, from 1 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 7, 2021.
