Garrett Wayne Morrison

A private friends and family celebration of Life will be held later for Garrett Wayne Morrison, 28, Lawrence. Garrett passed away Saturday, May 22, 2021 at his home.

Garrett was born on July 14,1992 in Lawrence, the son of Wayne D. and Dana L. (Wallace) Morrison.

Garrett grew up loving his home in the country outside Overbrook, KS, where he attended school. He loved riding quads, shooting guns, fishing and his yearly quest of searching for morels. He enjoyed playing sports year-round and competed twice at State Track Meets in pole vaulting.

After high school, he attended Washburn University in the fall of 2011.

He also tried his skills in various construction trades. Eventually starting Morrison Construction for a few years.

In 2018 he found his place at Berry Global where he quickly rose through the ranks of management as Assistant Group Lead. He very much loved his job and the people he worked with, and was respected and well-liked by his peers.

He met and fell in love with Shelby O’Brien. They had made a life together with their two dogs, Mossy and Hero.

Garrett had an infectious smile and a quirky sense of humor that was a joy to be around.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Dana L. Morrison and Barry Wilson, Overbrook and his sister, Sydney L. Morrison, Colorado, his stepsister Layla Wilson, Overland Park, his partner Shelby O’Brien, Lawrence, his maternal grandparents Wayne and Dorothy Wallace, Chanute; and many aunts, uncles & cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father Wayne D. Morrison, and his paternal grandparents Max and Frances Morrison.
