Galen Dean Dodd

Galen Dean Dodd, born to Clarence C. and Viola R. (Rice) Dodd August 15, 1938, passed away on June 19, 2014 with his family by his side.

He was born and lived all his life in Ottawa. He spent most of his working life as a farm machine mechanic at Ottawa Farm Implement, Sheldon’s Inc., Kile Equipment and McConnell Equipment. He enjoyed collecting farm toy collectibles and antique glass. He also liked going to Branson.

He was united with his wife, June (Jones) Dodd, on June 2, 1959. She survives of the home, as well as two sons, Bobby (and wife Martha), and Gary (and wife Karen), five grandchildren, Jennifer (and husband Bo), Joshua, Jessica, Andrew and Matthew, all of Ottawa, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Viola (Rice) Dodd, and brothers, Louis and Arnold Dodd.

The family will have a memorial service at a later date.

The family suggests memorial in his name to the Kansas Specialty Dog Service (KSDS) and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain mortuary in Lawrence.
