Florence Gallagher

Memorial services for Florence L. Gallagher, 80, will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at First United Methodist Church, 946 Vermont Street.  She was a resident of Lawrence, KS and died January 9, 2010 at Tonganoxie Nursing Center. 

She was born on March 10, 1929 in McLouth, KS the daughter of Harry and Audra Rummel Zook.

She was a nanny for children.  She attended First United Methodist Church.

She married Cliford Eugene Gallagher in 1949.  He preceded her in death in 1966.

Survivors include one daughter, Patricia Fox, Lawrence; two sons, Richard Eugene, William LeRoy, both of Lawrence; one brother, Charlie Zook, Sioux City, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Kayla and Christopher.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    Florence was my mom’s best friend at Gibson’s Discount and after she retired. Florence was there when my sister and I lost our mother, and she made contact with my dad to make sure he was doing okay in the years that followed.
    My thoughts are with you. I knew Richard in school.

    Patty,Richard,Billy, So sorry to hear of your loss.I will always remember how thoughtful and kind your Mom was when we were all in the “neighborhood”.
