Duane Eugene Wyatt

Funeral service for Duane Eugene Wyatt, Sr. 81, Lawrence, Kansas will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017 at Connect Church in Lawrence. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence.

He was born on July 27, 1935 in Delia, Kansas the son of John R. and Flossie Mable (Graham) Wyatt.

Duane graduated from Lecompton High School in 1955. He was a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He worked at Woods Lumber for 25 years. He later owned Wyatt’s hardware store in Osage City. Next he worked for Jostens for 15 years until he retired. He then helped his son Bryan at Wyatt Heating and Cooling.

Duane was a past president of the Eagles Lodge #309 of Lawrence. He was also a past president of the Chamber of Commerce in Osage City. He was baptized in and a member of Connect Church, formally Lawrence Wesleyan Church.

Duane married Ruth A. Carr on July 6, 1958 in Lecompton, KS. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include three sons, Duane Eugene Wyatt, Jr. (Michelle) Eudora, Jeffery Dean Wyatt (Jennifer) Lawrence, Bryan Lee Wyatt (Julie) Lawrence; four brothers, Marion (Marian) Topeka, Lloyd (Leota) Topeka, Dwight, Mayetta, Glenn (Evelyn) Omaha, NE; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Duane died June 23, 2017 at his home. He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Wyatt, two brothers, Howard, Bud; five sisters, Geneva Farrell, Loveign Ostrander, Margie Nocktonic, Joyce Wyatt and June Green.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to Connect Church or Aseracare Hospice and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

    I pray for a peace that passes all understanding rule in your hearts. I have many great memories of Uncle Duane and the house on Ohio Street. One thing that you will always have memories and those can’t be taken away. He was loved and will be missed by all. Please know that your in my thoughts and prayers.

    Dave and I are so sorry for your loss. Glad he’s not suffering anymore. We have many fond memories of our visits with you and the family. He could always make everyone laugh and have a good time. Please take care of yourself, you are in our prayers and thoughts. I’m so glad we were able to get back there and visit two years ago.
