Dorothy Barnett

Graveside services for Dorothy “Nadine” Barnett, 85, Lawrence, will be held at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2011.   Mrs. Barnett died May 18, 2011 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born on October 26, 1925 in Robertson County, TN, the daughter of Henry and Lula Loraine Matthews.

She worked as a section manager at Hallmark Cards for 29 years until she retired.

Nadine married Donald Barnett on July 25, 1949 in Franklin, KY.  He survives of the home. 

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, and Eagles Auxiliary.  She was a former member of Elks and Moose Lodges.

Other survivors include one son, Larry Barnett, and wife, Sally; and one brother, Eldridge Matthews, both of Lawrence.  She was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil Matthews.  

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 22nd at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Lawrence Humane Society or the American Heart Association and may be sent in care of the mortuary.

    Don, Larry and families, I am so sorry to read about the passing of Nadine. It’s that time of life when the good things seem to be going away. However there is Hope, found in my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
