Donna Marie Morey

Donna Marie Morey

On Wednesday, October 26, 2022, Donna Marie Morey passed away at the age of 84 in the comfort of her home. She is preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend, Thomas R. Morey, who passed away June 1, 2010. Donna was born January 14, 1938, in Salem, Oregon and lived all over the world before settling in Lawrence, KS to be closer to her family.

Donna was a devoted military spouse and went beyond her duties as the First Sergeant’s wife to ensure everyone around her felt cared for. She had an immense love for her country. She loved to travel, visited many locations that most only dream of, and the ocean was always her favorite place to be. Donna was very passionate about her feelings towards inequality, especially for the younger age groups, and she made it a point to vote for the benefit of the next generations rather than for herself. She was a woman who stood firm to her beliefs and never faltered to the pressures around her. She loved spending time with her daughters and family, watching singing competition shows, professionally decorating cakes, and teaching baking classes, which, of course, points to her being known as “lover of all sweets”

Donna is survived by three of the most endearing daughters- Gina Gardner of Lawrence, KS, Angela Freeman of Rogers, AR, and Vicki Romaguera of Sonoma, CA. She leaves behind 6 lovable grandchildren, 3 precious great-grandchildren, and her cherished nieces.

A wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter… She checked every single box with superb intent and will leave a lasting impact on every life she touched on this earth.

There will be a private ceremony for the family.

In lieu of flowers, please donate at HOAPF.org to fund scholarships for dependents of deceased or 100% disabled veterans.

Your mom was such a trooper. As ladylike as she was, she was tough. I will never forget the story of her breaking her leg in Alaska. I can’t imagine being that far away or that remote. I know she will be missed by so many. God bless.
