Deborah Prentice

 

Funeral service for Deborah Christine Prentice, 48, Lawrence, will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2009, at North Lawrence Christian Church.  Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.  She died October 13, 2009, at VNA Hospice Care Cottage.  The family suggests that pink be worn in honor of her fight against breast cancer.

She was born June 15, 1961, in Lawrence, KS the daughter of Hubert and Mary Constance “Connie (Lipp) Pritchett.

Mrs. Prentice graduated from Lawrence High School in 1979.  She worked at Douglas County VNA, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care for over twenty years.  She was a member of the North Lawrence Christian Church and was a member of the Harmony Circle Ladies Group.  Mrs. Prentice was also a Sunday School Teacher.  She was a member of the Bosom Buddies support group.  She was an avid fan of the KU football team and the men’s and women’s basketball teams.  She also loved cats, but not Wildcats.

She married James “Jim” Prentice on February 16, 1991, in Lawrence, KS.  He preceded her in death in December 1995.

Survivors include her parents, Hubert and Connie Pritchett, Lawrence; a sister, Sheree Bower and husband, Tom, Ft. Worth, TX; her father and mother-in-law, James and Phyllis Prentice, Lawrence; and two nieces, Krista and Amber and a nephew, Joshua Bower and two sister-in laws, Shelia Rygmyr and Lori Anderson.

The family will greet friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009, at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Douglas County VNA, Rehabilitation and Hospice Care or Lawrence Memorial Hospital Oncology Unit or North Lawrence Christian Church.
