Dayna Lynn Pintore

Dayna Lynn Pintore

March 25, 1966 – July 4, 2022

“I walk tall. I got a tall attitude.”

Dolly Parton may have been talking about herself, but this sentiment most certainly applies to Dayna Pintore.

Born in Hot Springs, AR and raised in Omaha, NE, Dayna graduated from South High in 1984. She went on to build a family, something that was deeply important to her. Looking for a fresh start, Dayna moved to Lawrence, KS in 2018 and built a new life for herself.

Dayna was very good at making people laugh, found joy in looking after creatures big and small, and refused to be anything but her authentic, brassy self always. She had a knack for gift giving, supporting the people she loved, and always cutting to the truth of things with her words. It is important to know that having Multiple Sclerosis and Fibromyalgia was a big part of Dayna’s life. Not because they controlled what she was able to do, but in how she moved through the world in spite of them. In connection to this, if you were someone that she loved then you would receive only the biggest love she could offer.

She is preceded in death by her former partner (and good friend) Steve. She is survived by her daughter Amanda and many other folks who love her.

In lieu of a funeral or celebration of life; please spend time with the people you love and tell them your favorite stories about Dayna. If looking for another way to honor Dayna, consider donating to an organization that supports Multiple Sclerosis or Fibromyalgia research and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, Kansas 66044.

Amanda, I know that you know that she loved you with every ounce of her being and she loved to brag about you on Facebook. While we didn’t know each other well in school, when we got in touch on social media I knew that she was one that I wouldn’t unfriend because her honesty and heart were wonderful and funny. I’m happy that she’s no longer in pain and I know that Steve and Mike are so happy to see her! ((hugs)) to you and her loved ones.

Call me when you need to or if you want to. My heart just aches for you!

I am so sorry to hear about Dayna’s passing. We went to high school together and reconnected on Facebook. I liked forward to seeing her posts every day because they always made me laugh. In spite of not seeing her in person in years (I’m in Japan) I feel like she was the same amazingly cheerful person she had always been in spite of her illnesses. Rest In Peace dear Dayna.
